Portland, OR - Bullseye Gallery is pleased to participate in the unique experience that is the AFFAIR. Located in a much-heralded boutique hotel and attended by over 4,000 curators, artists, dealers and collectors each year, AFFAIR @ The Jupiter Hotel is Portland's aesthetic forum for local and national contemporary arts participants. Bullseye will present works by Maurizio Donzelli, Dafna Kaffeman, Silvia Levenson, and Sylvie Vandenhoucke in Room #138 at The Jupiter Hotel, September 14 - 16, 2007.

Maurizio Donzelli is an Italian artist who has exhibited and performed around the world. His large kilnformed glass wall works were inspired by watercolor "drawings" produced during his Portland iteration of "La Macchina Dei Disegni (The Drawing Machine)," an installation/artist performance held at Bullseye Gallery in 2004.

Dafna Kaffeman's spiky glass and silicone sculptures look more like undersea creatures than static objects. "Glass for me is a way to express thoughts, desires, wishes, and to tell stories. In my work I try to stretch the natural abilities of the material to its limits...I combine glass with other materials in order to change its natural characteristics," explains Kaffeman, who currently works from her studio in Tel-Aviv and heads the Glass Studies department of the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem.

Silvia Levenson's pastel cast glass weapons echo the uneasy currents of domestic life. Levenson is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina but narrowly escaped during the "disappearances" of the Dirty War, emigrating to Italy in 1981. Her work is internationally recognized and in 2006 was shown in solo exhibitions in Rome, Portugal, and Italy.

Sylvie Vandenhoucke is a Belgian artist and currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sunderland in the UK. Her patterned pâte de verre wall works are intricate yet minimal. "The work reveals a non-physical or inner space, trapped between the layers of the miniature landscape," says Vandenhoucke, whose sculptures have recently been shown in Japan, the UK, Belgium, and the US. Vandenhoucke's solo exhibition "Break of Day" debuts September 25 - November 17, 2007 at Bullseye Gallery.
