Aurora @ Bullseye Resource Center Bay Area: Romy Randev

September 18, 2018 - January 5, 2019

Emeryville, CA -  Bullseye Resource Center Bay Area Gallery presents a solo exhibition featuring work by Romy Randev, on view from September 18, 2018 to January 5, 2019.

Randev explores the intersection of color, light, and technology in his glass sculpture and design. Through interactivity with the viewer and the environment, Randev's work is concerned with "using light, color, and technology to create pieces that resonate on subconscious and playful levels." Small Screen 2 consists of a wooden grid filled with transparent colored glass. Light passing through the sculpture is projected across the room, transforming the space. Similarly, Randev's Looma Lamp series features vibrantly colored glass strips inside light boxes. Using light to actively engage the viewer, Randev's sculptures and designs create new opportunities to engage with the works and the space they inhabit.

Romy Randev began working in fused glass in 2012 with the aim of creating large-scale architectural installations. In 2013, Kind of Blue was selected by the Corning Museum of Glass's New Glass Review 35. In 2014, Randev was a finalist in Bullseye Glass Company's Emerge competition. Between 2007 and 2018, Randev lived in the San Francisco Bay Area where he was introduced to fused glass at the Bullseye Resource Center Bay Area along with an intensive workshop at Pilchuck Glass School. Randev currently lives and runs a studio in Chelsea, Quebec, Canada.
