Contemporary Kiln-Glass at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft

A Survey of Works from the Bullseye Connection, 1980 to the Present

Saturday, April 8 - Sunday, July 2, 2006

Sponsored by the Bullseye Glass Co. and the Bullseye Gallery, this exhibition presents over 60 works by 37 international artists and surveys a 25-year period of the kilnformed glass movement, beginning with Bullseye's development, in the early 1980's, of the world's first line of glasses designed specifically for melting together in a kiln.

This technically reliable, easily accessible product called tested compatible or fusible glass set off an explosion of glass activity in kilns in private studios around the world. The exhibition presents a comprehensive look at the ways artists responded to these new developments, revitalizing an ancient craft with contemporary sensibility. Works are displayed according to method and to theme with special emphasis on international master Klaus Moje.
